Pärnu
Before to leave Estonia for Norway, I want to present this tiny but lovely city which is Pärnu, in the sea cost at the half way between Tallinn and Riga. Pärnu is the "summer capital of Estonia" because of its splendid beaches, but is great even in Autumn.
Just have a look...
Romantic isn't it?
Here you can't really see because of too much water, but there is a wave-broken wall between the sea ant the river calls Pärnu river, the biggest in Estonia. A legend says if a couple go until the end of this wall, their love will be eternal. But it's a very long wall and very dangerous. Yes, it's difficult to have an eternal love...
During the day, Pärnu it's so colorful and with the autumn color it's beautiful!
This man is Johann Voldemar Jannsen. He edited the first issue of the weekly paper Perno Postimees in June 1857, marking the beginning of continuous journalism in estonian language.
Jansen organized the first Estonian Song festival in 1869 and the second in 1879 in Tartu. He was a prolific writer and also wrote the words for the Estonia national anthem.
Nowadays, the newspaper Postimees is one of the most famous diary in Estonia.
Let's continue our visit.
This a view from the interior of the Art craft Open Studio calls "Maria-Magdaleena Gild". A place to go because first you can meet estonian artists in their studio. Secondly you can have a big view of all the art-craft specialities in estonia (leather, weaving,knitting...). Last you can buy beautiful and handy things!
This is their web site: http://www.maarjamagdaleenagild.ee/in_english.html
Have a good evening. For my part I leave estonia for a while!
